Retiring in HH

Post by laddie66 »

I am 55 and my wife and I are considering retirment in Thailand. I have a small pension of around £400/month and about $200,000 in the bank - is it possible to have a nice life out there with this amount of money?

I would appreciate any advice and/or assistance you can offer.

Hi and welcome to the board,
The amount you specified works out to around 26,000 Baht per month. You could probably live reasonably on this providing you're not too extravagant. A furnished house can be rented from around 6,000 baht per month, food costs are very cheap if you can eat the local stuff, western food is a little more expensive. Transport costs are minimal, moto taxis around town for 20 baht and a small motorbike can be bought for around 35,000 baht.

Your savings should be sufficient for a retirement visa but check this site:

Good luck
