Note: The article doesn't say, but I imagine the entire period will be dry days.
It will be an Exodus to happy countries.

When is Visaka Bucha Day this year (2017) in Hua Hin? Is there any special events happening around town? Can anyone recommend anything?

I just read that May 9th is determined as ploughing day. It seems not to be a fixed date.

In Thailand, the exact date and times for the yearly "Royal Ploughing Ceremony" are set annually by Brahman priests. Discontinued by the 1920s, this practice was revived beginning in 1960.

Last year was on May 9th.

Have a bit of conflicting info below. Up to you to find out yourselves about Tuesday, July 11. Especially if planning to go to Immigration that day. I personally don't know at the moment if open or closed? Pete

^ ...."Thailand will mark Asahna Bucha on Saturday, while the start of three-month Buddhist Lent – during which monks cannot spend a night anywhere outside their monasteries – is due to take place Sunday. Monday will also be a day off in Thailand, as a day of observance.

That means no booze sale at supermarkets, bars, convenience stores and other venues will be allowed from 00.01am on Saturday to midnight Sunday.".....

http://www.khaosodenglish.com/life/2017 ... t-weekend/

NOTE: People who have children in Thai schools have told us they are closed also on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 Therefore the assumption Thai government offices will be closed also on that day.
