The dilemma of dealing with found property in Thailand.

Post by Bluesky »

Daughter currently works in Bangkok, born, raised and educated in Australia with further grad/post grad studies completed in Thailand. Having life experience in both Australia and Thailand she is now learning how to deal with integrity/issues/values that differ to what she has experienced in Aus.

Whilst walking the other day with a friend in the Bangkok CBD, found a sum of money being less than 5000baht on the ground. Unable to to see who had dropped it they picked it up. her first thought was to hand it in to the police however she thought about it and realised it wasn't Australia so the likelyhood of it finding its way back to its rightful owner was at best, slight. Her dilemma, how to locate the rightful owner.

She'll need to come up with some kind of question for the person to prove their ownership. If not, every scammer under the sun will appear if she does advertise her find. A difficult problem unless it was in some kind of unique bag or the like. Good luck to her, and I applaud her honesty. :thumb: Pete
