What to bring.....

Hello all !!!
i know its still a while till i move to Hua Hin
but when im stressed to death at work and start to
day dream of writing that letter to the boss and packing my
bags.... i start to wonder whats the important stuff to take
and what can be shipped over....im sure all of you who are there
now will have different answers....

Id like to hear from the various horses mouths out there what
you forgot or wished youd brought etc....

Just interested!!!

Just so happened that he was not logged out when I made the post.

One thing I don't miss is going out for a peaceful drink with friends and being verbally/physically abused by some numb nut on the street!

Unfortunately you are seeing more and more of the "culturally clueless" farangs turning up.

When I have enough money I shall move from Hua Hin into more of a "Thai" area which is where I would like to spend more of my time.

It's obviously good moneywise for Hua Hin but for those of us who actually like THAILAND, ( not a farang version of it ) it is not so great!

GLC mate the longer you stay in HH the more money you are spending. Along with all the dickheads going there now the cost of living made me get out. Were I am now is so much cheaper to live, beautiful beaches and real nice Thai people.

I've been living in Thailand for about 22 month now as for what I miss and what I bring is mostly food.

When I go back to the US which is getting less and less often I travel with 2 suit cases. 1 empty and 1 about half full. Customs loves that. "why do you have empty suit cases?" answer "so I can bring stuff back."

Usually about 70 lbs of food. So far I've never had a problem. I bring back packaged meats such as dry salami and hot links, Tillamook and monterey jack cheeses. Shilling spices, nuts of various kinds, things like that.

I try to get my fill which doesn't take to long of the things I miss. In and Out burgers, good Chinese food also Mexican and Murphy's take and bake pizza.

about 4 or 4 days and I'm ready to come back to Thailand.

Another thing is good underwear and socks.

seems most he stuff here is very thin.

I also find most electronics and camera equipment is cheaper in the US.

If you shop around you can find almost everything food and drink wise. If not in HH certainly in BK

Those things are optional here. If you really need to wear socks, don't do it with shorts or sandals. The other farangs may very well attack and string you up...LOL. Pete

Well we moved here 3 months ago. We shipped over personal item - books, clothes ornaments, pictures, computer + scanner etc and bits and bobs. The only large thing we shipped was a double bed which is our spare room bed. Generally speaking buy out here. I know its more expense in the sense of starting again but nevertheless we felt (and still feel) it was the best option.
Indicentally we shipped 1 double bed & mattress along with 23 boxes. Cost £1400 + insurance

Out of curiosity Niggle, did Thai Customs try to hold anything for ransom, or was that included in the agents fees/shipping costs? Pete
