A temple in northern Thailand, I believe it is near Chiang Rai area.
the big statue will be very impressive when it is completed. It seems that all the statues inside
of the temple are carved from wood. Sorry that I don't remember its name.

A very nice place to visit in Northern Thailand, I believe it was in the Chiang Rai area.
Again due to bad memory, I am not sure of the location, and my Thai family mentioned
that it was a Royal residence.

The temple is Wat Huay Pla Kang วัดห้วยปลากั้ง, Mae Yao, Chiang Rai province.
The garden could be MAE FAH LUANG, but I am not sure

On the gulf side? Must have been one of those typhoons that hit down around Chumphon some years back.

Probably about 400 meters, and there is a hill in the way so it cant have washed in. Those trees are pretty well established also ... a mystery indeed.

Wow, as Gerard said Wat Huay Pla Kang. Only 3-4 km. from my girlfriend's home in Chiang Rai. Been there a dozen times. First time about seven years ago.Thought they were never going to finish that as there was little to no progress during the first five years. Now I have not been to Chiang Rai for two years and it is finished! Thanks for sharing.

The statue looks impressive indeed. According to the Wat Huay Pla Kang website it is not a Buddha statue but it depicts Guanyin, Goddess of Mercy. (image taken from the website)

There's a memorial park built around a boat about a kilometre in from the coast at Khao Lak. Takes your breath away when you're there and think about it.

Thailand Memories of 2013. A day at the beach, a day in the rain, and dreams of
my future in Thailand, or just musing!
It is all still better than a day in a blizzard. (That is a bad snow storm!)
I hope my pictorial story is okay for the forum. (View from bottom to top)
