British Passport renewal company in Hua Hin?
Re: British Passport renewal company in Hua Hin?
Key Visa website has instructions on how to use their service. Unsurprisingly it includes sending the current passport. VFS probably needs to see it. Key Visa will hold onto the passport because they will need it to collect the new one. However, if there is some urgent need to get the passport back then it can be arranged (maybe they'll send it over on the ferry ).
Re: British Passport renewal company in Hua Hin?
How was she here if her passport was well out of date?? Additionally, if a passport is out-of-date I'm pretty sure that a "new passport" application has to be made, so I'm surprised it could even be done from here as that generally requires an interview.
Well passports are no longer renewed via Hong Kong so the process has changed from there. I'm also pretty sure that by using Key Visa you are essentially applying in person...My last renewal was by post to Hong Kong and copies were accepted. The official reason was that because Thailand has a requirement to produce your original passport, the necessity to part with it for renewal is not needed.
Having said that, the UK Gov site states:
"Current British passport: If you are in a country where you must apply in person, you must bring your current British passport with you when you apply, and also bring a full colour photocopy of the entire passport (every page
including blank pages)."
By using KeyVisa, you are not applying in person but using a representative so I'm not sure if you need to send your original off to the company. If so, by doing that you are laying yourself open to the Thai authorities by not having your passport to hand.

When I went with my daughter a year ago, she only had to produce copies of her old passport, which was well out of date.
So that would mean she was in Thailand illegally with no visa, how did you get around that one?

Seems I've confused some people.
She's Thai/English and therefore has two passports.
Also, doesn't matter that a passport is out of date, it's still 'renewable'.

That's right, we had the opposite scenario in the UK. My wife's Thai passport was 15 years out of date (used her British passport for travel). We only bothered renewing it when returning to Thailand to live i.e. I didn't want her arriving on her UK passport, and all of the complications that would have followed.
please.

So it turns out there is a good business opportunity for someone with the right contacts and knowledge to start a passport renewal business in Hua Hin.

But it looks like KeyVisa has that covered already.

Only by mail from Hua Hin, not in person.

The transfer letter is actually provided with your new passport regardless of who process the applicationStevePIraq wrote: ↑Sat Jan 13, 2018 11:11 am Don't forget that once you receive your new UK passport you then need a letter from the UK Embassy in Bangkok requesting Thai immigration to transfer your visa. So you still end up going to Bangkok to collect the letter, unless Key Visa will obtain that letter for you.
Last time I obtained a letter it was a signed copy with a space for you to enter your details.

In answer to the OP, I've seen this advertised today:
I have never used them, know nothing about them, but they claim to do what you ask.
