The office will be open on Mondays and Tuesdays during normal office hours, and can offer short term visas and extensions.

No mention of when its due to open though.

Does this mean we can arrive with a 30 day visa and extend it at Hua Hin (planning to stay for just under 90 days) ?

Well, I check the immigration office last Tuesday.
It's really working  !!!
In the moment you just can give them your 90-days-report or apply for a simple extention.
For all other things (1-year-visa, changing of visa etc.) you have to travel to Bangkok or Prachuab.
However, it's a beginning...just hope they won't ignore Expats and long-term tourists again, as in the past.

Would you say they're co-operative and helpful or akin to the consulate jack-asses in Kotu Baru (where your lucky if you get a double tourist visa!)
