30 Years lease
30 Years lease
Moving to HH in January,I'm looking for the right way to buy land, house or business. To avoid the company way, does it make sense to buy all on my wife's name and to get a 30 years lease contract from her?
This has been covered a lot on the Thaivisa forum, but they seem to have some very bitter people there - so assuming that in HHAD everyone is sane and not bitter through personal experience, if the answer is no - why not?
Is it not possible to have the house in your name and the land in the wife's, if Thai? Is it not also possible to arrange a lease-back scheme from the wife legally - say for 30 years? Why not share this responsibility - wouldn't it be the norm in the UK?
I know the answer will be that if it all goes pear shaped, that the courts will not side with the farang - but is that the one negative should things go wrong? Or are there other drawbacks?
