Retirement Extension & Working Oversas

Post by phartley58 »

Guys,

I've heard a rumour that Immigration may start checking into people on Retirement Extensions that are also working. I don't have any more info than that unfortunately.

Now, I can completely understand that being on a Retirement Extension and also working WITHIN THAILAND is probably a massive NO NO but I honestly don't see it making a difference if you work overseas away from Thailand.

Has anyone else heard this and if so, what is your take on it?
If it aint broke, don't fix it...

If you have a retirement extension, and a multiple re-entry permit, how are they to know what you do while you are out of the country?

If you are working offshore on 28 / 28 you may get caught out not being in Thailand at the correct time to extend your permission to stay. Also, depending on which country that you are working in, there may be a reference in your passport to a work permit, but in my experience most of the countries just show it as a residence permit.
And also best to use the 800 k in the bank for the financial statement.

I doubt that there is much to worry about, but suggest that you DO NOT ask them at Immigration! If they question you at the airport just tell them that you have to stay each alternate month with your Mia Noi that lives overseas!
May you be in heaven half an hour before the devil know`s you`re dead!
