Thread drift again, who would have thought Saudi has anything to do with the title of the thread?

Saudi should not be rolled up with the likes of Dubai and Bahrain, entirely different outlooks. There are probably more Brits in Dubai than there are Arabs! But females are considered the bottom of the chain in any Arab country.

I certainly wouldn't recommend China to work - visit yes, work and live.... no. Unless you are in one of the major cities which can be damned expensive, and even then China can be a very lonely and difficult place to be based in for a Laowai (foreigner). Although I might be a tad negative after being there for 15 years and having to deal with some extreme racism and negativity in business......

Thailand has made it very clear that they don't want foreigners working here (unless they're from neighbouring countries which they can exploit).

Vietnam, Laos or Cambodia would be much more welcoming if she wants to be in Southeast Asia.
