Borrowing 'Show' Money to Obtain Visa

Post by sealcat123 »

Hello All.... it's a few years ago now, but I heard of a visa scheme whereby the annual renewal balance required could be "borrowed" for the required 90 days... is this still in operation and what are the costs... be interested to know. Thanks in advance

Better try to get a loan from the bank....
Certain immigration officers are part of the scheme........
As for getting a loan from a bank to meet immigration's financial requirements...Good luck with that...

Yes, you can use an agent and immigration would prefer if you did that due to the benefits being shared but it will cost you in the region of 30k baht each year. Better and much cheaper to use your own money and take the official route.

It is extremely wide spread and the money is not borrowed for 90 days it is usually into your account then withdrawn as soon as the bank letter is issued, usually same day. It is illegal, however it is also widely utilized. You will not get the money from a bank it is an individual with connections, there are even posts on Facebook offering this service.
This should not be discussed openly here but options can be provided by PM

How can it be withdrawn the same day as the bank book has to show the money as being in the account for at least 90 days?
It is pricks that do things like this that lead to the rest of us getting caught up in some new clamp down or other. :banghead:

Mine was cash deposited, letter drafted cash wthdrawn all in 30 minutes, you do not ask how/why it just gets done and is a fact and it is accepted.
As I said it should not be discussed here, PM's are the best way of discussing this.

And it's the pricks who pay police bribes to get off, when they have broken the law who make life hell for many others. Why don't the ones who pay bribes go and report the officer demanding a bribe? Because it's easier to do it the corrupt way.

Of course you should ask how it's done, mainly to see if the person explaining it can keep their story straight. And to find out if the bank letter is fake or someone on the inside makes a real one with fake numbers. And does that inside person provide you with a passbook showing fake activity that you can show to immigration? And to find out if someone at immigration is on the inside, so you'll know there are no more hurdles or deceptions. Or you can just take a strangers word that it works and hand him a pile of money.

You forget, everything is done on paper here. Double books are common.

We must be happy that some things can be done in another way. Convenient for some farangs and also for some officials.

Going to be interesting when there is a crack-down on corrupt officials.

Well, the OP's first and last appearance on this site was to ask this question and he hasn't been back since. It took nearly 2-weeks for him to get an answer, so he probably found out from somewhere else.

I dont think that it is unreasonable for THAI to insist that foreign residents prove that they can support themselves here. The ironic thing is that though most of us struggle to obey all the rules there are thousands of foreigners here with no visas and little money. Pattaya is full of them.

Maybe if people cannot afford having the required money stated by Immigration rules, they should stay home? As someone mentioned above, there are enough unwanted "elements" here in Thailand that makes life more painful and difficult for us wanting to follow the laws and requirements. It gives foreigners a bad reputation to be honest, IMHO!
