I think that has always been the case. However, interpretation has often been the latter.

Re: Coronavirus (Covid-19) News
Actually, WHO Thailand in their notice today state that masks should be worn in crowded places when not able to social distance.
https://www.facebook.com/coronavirus_in ... e=bookmarkIt is important that members of the public continue to follow preventive measures including distancing, regular handwashing, avoiding touching the face, wearing masks when visiting crowded places and coughing only into a folded elbow or a tissue (which should be disposed of safely).
When you can’t keep a safe distance from others, cover your mouth and nose with a mask
Re: Coronavirus (Covid-19) News
I think whatever the WHO says here takes a back seat to the official government directives.

Re: Coronavirus (Covid-19) News

Asia has led the world in promoting wearing of masks with excellent results. There were many naysayers along the way, but wearing of masks is gradually winning people over.

Honestly, they need to coordinate their press releases to avoid confusion. Too many cooks in the kitchen comes to mind.

Re: Coronavirus (Covid-19) News
I’m totally in agreement with wearing masks, however as many people have commented (incl you I believe BB) the wearing of masks in Thailand has reduced considerably over the past few months with no noticeable increase in infections?
Re: Coronavirus (Covid-19) News
No increase because Covid was eradicated. It's back, so a need to go back to our own lessons learned.

If you've been exposed to risk, here is the list if hospitals where free tests can be obtained. Hua Hin is No.171.

Re: Coronavirus (Covid-19) News
Is it free also for farangs?
Re: Coronavirus (Covid-19) News
The note says free. The way I see it, it has to be free if they are serious about identifying victims. If people have to pay, human nature says only the most desperate will spend their hard earned cash.
However, to answer your question honestly, I don't know, and hope I don't have to find out.
[Edit] I think the key thing will be the ability to be able to prove exposure to risk.

Re: Coronavirus (Covid-19) News
Has Thailand been doing the sort of mass testing that is now going on in Europe to know if it was eradicated?
Are you guys living in Hua Hin going for regular tests? The reason I ask is because at least ten people I know here in Luxembourg have had it but with no sign of any illness, they just tested positive at regular screenings.

Re: Coronavirus (Covid-19) News
It seems the numbers aren't affected only by testing or lack of it.
https://www.khaosodenglish.com/news/cri ... ut-sakhon/BANGKOK — The government’s pandemic response center on Wednesday appeared to adopt a new policy of leaving out numbers of new coronavirus cases in Samut Sakhon in today’s news briefing.

Re: Coronavirus (Covid-19) News
Pretty certain it’s the complete opposite - almost nobody is being tested as far as I’m aware, other than those living in the areas affected by the recent outbreakSTEVE G wrote: ↑Wed Dec 23, 2020 4:43 pmHas Thailand been doing the sort of mass testing that is now going on in Europe to know if it was eradicated?

Re: Coronavirus (Covid-19) News
Added to that, the new cases are reported as over 90% being asymptomatic. Without mass testing there could be large numbers wandering around not knowing they have it. A very dangerous development.Big Boy wrote: ↑Wed Dec 23, 2020 3:39 pm The note says free. The way I see it, it has to be free if they are serious about identifying victims.
