Cases creeping up. Will pass 20,000 soon I guess. Standby for lockdowns, curfews and the like.
Of course the 'Omicron wave' was expected. Other countries have let it continue it's course and in most cases, having hit the peak it starts coming down. The UK is a prime example with cases reducing over the last couple of weeks. There are virtually NO restrictions there, proving the point.
Not so in Thailand of course.
My daughter arrived on Wednesday and tomorrow has to go into a 24 hour quarantine for another PCR test.

Ridiculous.

It's more than ridiculous. It's beginning to fully clarify the point that this government is hell bent on total control until people en masse start to begin to say NO, or the economy gets so bad they don't have a choice. This is straight out of a junta playbook. :banghead:

Thailand's daily Covid-19 cases may hit 100,000, warns virologist
A Thai virologist warned that daily Covid-19 cases may reach 100,000 amid the BA.2 sub-variant of Omicron spreading rapidly in the kingdom.

Dr Yong Poovorawan, senior virologist from Chulalongkorn University said at present, an average of 25,000 Covid-19 cases was being reported daily, including those tested positive using the Antigen Test Kits (ATK) in Thailand.

He said data showed the infection rate in the kingdom now is 10 times of the four previous waves.

“As Thailand is facing its fifth wave of infections, I hope the infection rate will not surge to six-digit,” he wrote on his Facebook page.

Over the last 24 hours, Thailand recorded 18,953 new Covid-19 cases and 30 deaths, bringing the total infections in the country to 2,712,315 and 22,624 fatalities.

He added that the BA.2 sub-variant of Omicron was spreading rapidly, citing that in Singapore, an average of 15,000 cases were reported while South Korea’s new daily cases topped 100,000 for the first time on Feb 18.

“Thailand may soon follow the same pattern."

I would just post the permanent link once on here (in bold, underlined caps) and people can then go to it themselves if they wish.

That's the problem. When it was YouTube there was a sort of link - I could at least have posted a link to the channel. AFAIK it is only reported on Facebook these days, so not easy to post a single link.

I would post the main PR Thai Government FB link. https://www.facebook.com/thailandprd They can find it from there as it will be near the top each day. If people don't use Facebook, then c'est la vie is the best thing to say I guess.

Yes, it's there. Not where I used to find it. They stopped months ago. Oh well, people will definitely know where to go now.
