Large garden pots

Post by pinky »

Hi everyone, new to the forum so please be patient with me.
Does anyone know where I can buy very large pots as a garden feature for fish, water lilys etc..
Closer than Bangkok please and not ridiculously priced (if possible :D )
Thanks in advance.

Go half way to Bangkok and try the Ratchaburi area - it's where many of them are made.

Drive around the place for a day and you will see many being sold on the roadside.

Terry hit the nail on the head . Ratchaburi is your cheapest option close to here .

There is a place on the Petchkasem road near index with a good variety of pots and water features outside .The prices are pretty good once you have bargained them down .They deliver and install the water features inclusive .

PK road south of Market Village opposite JD Pools (just after Electricity U Turn is quite good. We get a truck 2 or 3 times a week round the estate selling.

Watch the fish though. I've used large pots before, the kind Thai's actually used to bathe with in days gone by, and still do in some places. Even a few dozen guppies will eventually deposit a thick layer of stinky sludge on the sides and bottom. Only way is to empty and scrub it every few months. They will eat a lot of mosquito larve though. Pete

Very true Pete.

The reason that you get a huge deposit of fi5h 5hite on the bottom is because the 'few dozen' dozen guppies soon become several hundred - they breed incredibly fast.

These were the fish with very colorful tails, the males I believe. Blues, greens, yellows etc. I just called them guppies as they were guppy size...LOL. They did multiply fast though. Pete

As do all the livebearing toothcarp species .Danios and barbs do the same job and are not as prolific .

Not tried them here in pots but cardinal and rummy nosed tetras would look good in a large pot IMO .
