Province of Thai partners

Post by buksida »

In a similar vein to the age poll this one is about where your Thai partner is from. Just an idea to get some kind of demographic on relationships, could be interesting.

Bangkok is just the city, North is everywhere north of Nakkon Sawan, Issan is everything east of Khorat and Petchabun, Central is Kanchanburi, Ratchaburi, Lopburi, Chonburi, Rayong etc. South is from Petchaburi to Phuket and Surat (but not including Prachuab) and Deep south is Nakkon Si and all provinces below it.

How far east? If its close to BKK, Saraburi, Chonburi etc its 'Central' if its Sakaew, Chantaburi etc I guess its considered 'Issan'.

Deep south for me!

Not to worry, it's not that big of a deal for what we're doing here. Just don't tell a woman from Rayong she's the same as one from Lopburi, or be prepared to get under the table as the sumtum flies..LOL.

I've always understood that the "East" is everything south and east of Chachoengsao all the way to the Cambodian border. Chanthburi, Trat etc are definitely in the East. Just look at a map and draw a line right from Chachoengsao to Cambodia. That box below it is the East. Pete

OK, just for reference here are maps of Eastern Thailand and Issan.

http://www.north-by-north-east.com/ISAN ... onsmap.asp

This one is about what I thought, bordered by the northern Cambodian border on the south, and the Ayutthaya north/south line, more or less, on the West.

http://www.hotelthailand.com/thaitour/east/map/

This one for the East goes a bit further North than I thought. Pete

Sorry for offending your mrs Pete, you obviously feel strongly about it!

I would still put Sakaew as Issan though, but yes Rayong, Chantaburi and Trat as "East", I have amended the poll for ya!

For those that are not sure about birth and present it would be birth and where the family is based as many Thais are transient at some stage in their lives and were not born where they currently live.

Not a big deal, the Mrs. doesn't even know about the poll...LOL. I already voted in 'central' so can't vote again.

On a personal note, which even seems a bit odd to me, all three Mrs's Pete's have been in the East area, Nakon Nayok, Chachengsao and Rayong.

I'm longing to see how it feels to be chased by an Issan girl, or southern girl also for that matter. Maybe mid-way through my next life...LOL. :D :D Pete

Kap Choeng Surin province, 20 km's from the Cambodian border,
i know beauty is in the eye of the beholder, in my opinion these stuck up white Bangkok Thai's may look upon Isaan black Thai's as a far lower class because they are farmers but they are far better looking.

There is a Thai lady that lives around the corner from us, she is from Udon Thani, she is obsessed with trying to be White it's cream cream and even more cream and on here kids aswell, i say to the wife just be your self don't try and change dark is more beautiful to me.
kendo.

Khorat is in Issan Caller, the “Welcome to Issan” sign is on the border of Nakhon Ratchasima province, about 50km or so from Saraburi.
