Don't want to be pedantic/nit picky/cynical etc but you'll probably find them very disappointing/unfulfilling/ambiguously full of sh**/moving the goal posts/not straight up/self-serving/apethetic/lying bast****, would you like me continue?steve/m wrote:especialy if working with the powers that be........
Could get at least about 6 pages out of this.
But, I suppose, the phrase that is relevent here is "Seek and you will find nirvana'.

Resolve dissolves in alcohol
Every little bit we can do help, even in Hua Hin.
Reuse plastic bags
Say no in 7/11
Some shops (eg mini farm) give you a discount if you take your own bag
Villa Market were giving away reusable shopping bags
Make it easier for the bin sifters - I have a big cardboard box that I put the rubbish in that they might be interested in - cardboard, bottles, cans, plastics, magazine, newspapers - and then put it next to the skip on my soi.
It may not be much, but I'm sure it does make a difference in the big picture......

I recycle nearly everything; paper, cardboard, glass, plastic, tin, aluminum, etc. A Thai couple comes by my house once every two weeks with one of those motorbikes with a trailer behind and collects it.Ok just one question for you. does anyone recycle,or think about recycling?
I caught them digging through my trash a couple of years ago and had my wife tell them that I would save everything for them if they would come by on a regular basis. Since then, they have, and we have. They are a really nice friendly couple who does this for a living full time.
They came this week so I won't see them again for about ten days but if anyone on the forum wants I will ask if they have a cell phone and put their number on here. Someone who speaks Thai could call them and see if you are on their regular route. They seem to really appreciate collecting the recyclables regularly rather than having to dig through the trash, and I get to feel good about the recycling and helping someone at the same time.
They win, the environment wins, and I win!
How many times have you had a win, win, win situation?

It's all very simple really. Have 2 containers under the sink, one for rubbish the other for recycle. Take them to the nearest bin on your way out for the day and put the recycle next to the bin not in. Easy access for anyone collecting.
Better for anyone to not have to dig through rotting garbage!!!
As far as 7/11 or anywhere else, get in the habit of saying mai ow tung!!
Say it quick or they'll have it in the bag before you know it!
Haven't figured out yet how to not get the plastic straws or spoons yet...
Have a program with our neighbors to pick up the area every few months and have had nothing but 'thumbs up' from the locals. Maybe it will sink in eventually?
