drilling a well
drilling a well
Can anyone recommend a well drilling company?
Hi,
Some of us use this company from Bangkok: 'S. ANAN Deep Well Company', 02-3163155, no English, but reliable, fast install, fast maintenance but no real warranty cover. 150k and they go down 75 metres if neccessary, using a giant air compressor that smashes through any granite rock.
We started off with a local water drill outfit (100k) and they could not get through the rock and left with 50k deposit.
Others on here (crazy88 I believe) have numbers of local firms that are cheaper but not sure they have air or water drill.
Things to look out for:
1) If lot of demand on pump (many houses) the motors burn out easy. First time well company's small print said pump is guaranteed for everything except motor!!
2) Second well we made sure we got guarantee for motor too. When this went the small print said motor is guaranteed except for burn outs. Farang pays again!!
3) Good to have well pump up to a holding tank then shuttle pump from there onto houses. If only a couple of houses then probably not neccassary. Timer control may reduce wear on pump motor too??
4) Pump inlets get blocked up with silt etc, needs pulling up & cleaning every 6 months or so or could cause stress on motor (I think? experts advice required here).
5) Water department from Prachuap came calling a while back, said we had not got permission (true) to put it on our own land, 10k charge each well plus 3k for the actual approval, might be worth getting the 3k approval from the start.
6) Well water in certain parts of town has high iron and calicium levels, if un-treated makes 'sandpaper' affect on pool tiles, blocks shower head jets etc. Long term can furr pipes, equipment. 20k filtration system sorts this issue.
Sorry to waffle moja if you know this already, but might help a.n.other though.
Cheers,
SJ

And filtering the water from it
I thought I posted this yesterday but can't find it now so here we go again.
The scenario is a well collecting water from 15 - 20 feet below ground. A pump take the water through a filter up to the main storage tank on the second floor 5 yards away.
The filter gets blocked and the heavily silted water then bypasses the pump and gets into the domestic supply.
The owner has been told that he needs a paper filter and we cannot find one here. Can anybody give us a clue as to the best solution and where can we purchase the necessary parts in Hua Hin, Pran Buri or Prachuap.
