Re: New private forum for adult discussion

Lev wrote:As requested recently be several members we have setup a new private area where discussion on more explicit and adult themes can take place. The forum is not viewable by the general public and access can be gained by sending a PM to me or the Mods or by simply replying in this thread and letting us know.

We have changed direction since we started this website and many of our members may take offense at some of the discussions that occur in this section. We would like to keep this section clean and nightlife related so if you have any questions on girls, barfines, nocturnal activities etc please apply for access and do not post them here or they will be edited.

Thanks.
I would like to get access to NIGHT CRAWLER. Thanks, Thomm

Added.

Since this is becoming a fair bit of work for me and we are a community I think that access will be revoked after a month if no posts are made. The whole idea of the forums are interaction and participation.

Appreciate this (and Lev, also the work involved) but surely you are creating even greater work by monitoring each member's activity for the pupose of expulsion. Can you clarify if this is now "set in stone" or just a muse to guage reaction- a common ploy here in "Tony's Wonderful England". secondly, is it "posts per month or just one in the initial month"? Forcing members to post (or else you're out), will only reduce the forum to the level of the "0230hrs pisshead club" as we have all recently witnessed here - good to see that sense is prevailing. I fully realise that HHAD would like more of it's members to post - but this is human nature - a family friend who has sat in the (UK) House of Lords for over 35 yrs said to me when I was serving on one of my first committees - "if you have a point - make it, if you have nothing constructive to add to the discusion - keep your gob shut - this way, at least you get to the bar sooner!!!! "
Take credit that this is undoubtedly one of the better "Thailand" forums - also, ask yourself how many people buy newspapers and of these how many write the editor with their views?
For many HHAD is their "window on paradise"(not the Disco).
Allow them their enjoyment.

Good points, Edd Case, but I doubt it'll be too difficult to monitor members' activity on one forum - namely Nightcrawler.
By the very nature of the posts that this forum could generate, I do think that the idea of joining it, but just looking, could rightly be regarded as voyerism.
I don't think that it's Admin's intention to carry this one month thing through the whole board, but I'll stand corrected.
Other boards in Thailand and elsewhere are far more strict about what members can and cannot do until they've proved themselves - say after 30 posts.
We're not as strict here and it works.

Thanks for the comments Edd.

The whole concept of a private board is to encourage participation and a flow of information amongst select members. The biggest problem this forum faces (and has faced since it started) is the massive proportion of "lurkers" to posters. Its something we've been working against for almost three years now. As lomu said there are many forums that simply delete user accounts if they have never made a post after a set amount of time, or make members prove themselves in other ways. We don't do that here.

We are not a newspaper, we are a community, and all communities whether online or off thrive on interation between members.

I still think its pretty fair to allow only members that are willing to contribute into the private forum therefore the month activation will stand for the private section and not the rest of the site. Those that have been granted access and havent contributed after a month will be back to the main site only (which does not have any such restrictions).

This will also lighten my load as only people that are willing to participate need apply for access from now on.
