Been here a while now and have looked around almost everywhere I have been in Thailand and dishwashers seem to be conspicuous by their absence.
OK, call me lazy, no probs. Is it even possible to buy them here(without paying a small fortune at Siam Paragon etc in Bangkok, even if they are there)?
If they are not no available, then why? Must be missing something here as they should appeal to the locals general ingrained lethargy.

Strange!
Well, my house has a dishwasher, and there must be at least one other in Hua Hin, as somebody on this forum was looking for both detergent and salt!
Not sure where it came from, as it was in the house when I bought it, but I have seen them in Index.
May you be in heaven half an hour before the devil know`s you`re dead!
We have a built in Siemens dishwasher that we got from HomePro.... granted HomePro wasn't in Hua Hin when we built the house so we had to go to the one in Samut Sakhon just south of Bangkok but it was no problem to find. I think they had several brands/models. Since I already have one I haven't looked at HomePro here but I would think that if they don't have one in stock, you could order it from one of their catalogs.
One thing to be careful of though... our builder (Western builder, Thai workers) didn't know how to install one so it didn't work. and we had to get installers from Siemens in Bangkok to come make it right after our builder's workers did their best and couldn't figure it out.
She comes Monday to Friday and cleans the house, the cooker, wipes all the work surfaces and gives Rubble doughnuts. All for 100 baht a day.
Oh, but she occasionally breaks glasses, throws my microwave containers in the bin, and sometimes doesn't turn up, but I would never trade her in for a white appliance...

HHF, must have been an interesting episode, sorting out your dishwasher, nothing is a simple as it seems here, I'm sure.
Nereus, man, you're lucky to get one with the house, sweet.
Sure they are, obviously, around. Where I am(along with a massive surrounding area), 'you'll be lucky' to find one for sure unless it talks, walks and needs paying.
Washing machine, yes. Necessity for a dishwasher? Hmmm....
The maid needs something to occupy her spare time. Besides, I try to get the kids to wash at least what they use after dinner. I believe it's called training for social responsibility (and the fact that my mother would probably have something to say if they couldn't when visiting them).
It was also something my parents did when we were kids - set specific tasks on rotation - that taught us the values we hold so dear today. Set the table. Clear the table. Wash the dishes. Clear and stack the dry ones. Feed the dogs.
Still at it, plus an occasional spell cooking up a favourite curry or something else you couldn't get here, and wouldn't know how to do if your parents hadn't insisted on you helping with the cooking (and especially the baking of Christmas cookies and fruit cake) plus the fun that went with it.
