I have heard tell of this before. Being a motorsai rider myself I never came into direct contact with it, but have had mates stoppted for it. It seemed to them that if they were stoppted and the MIB could not find anything else to do them for then they would be done for the seatbelt law, I suppose to ensure some sort of whisky payment.
I was seen once not wearing a helmet and quickley slowed to put it on, when the motorsai cop caught up with me and saw that I had slippted it on he was mightly angry. Before he went he gave me a couple of hard digs in the ribs with his baton. Loads of local Thais came out and exclaimed 'crazy Thai police' they seemed more angry than I was. I suppose the beer soaked up the pain...

Well i suggest you wear it anyway considering the accident rate in LOS.
Also if you do not and an accident happens it could be a way for your insurance to get out of paying any money back in the event of you or passengers not wearing a belt.
You must know that in LOS any excuse to make a few baht is around everycorner .

I wouldn't dream of being a passenger or driving a car without a seatbelt on. I guess I'm a product of the 'Clunk, Click, every Trip' ads - they really did work. It's so automatic to me, I don't think about it.
For your own (and your pocket's) sake, just belt up. It ain't uncomfortable, and it saves a hell of a mess to clean up on the dash board.
It's basic common sense - or self preservation. Riding a motorcycle here without a helmet is downright stupid!

I drove with the kids out to Pala U today and shortly before the falls approach saw some thai bloke spread over the road like a pizza
stopped
took the kids out of the back and up to the scene...
showed em the thai bloke dead....his head like a burst melon....I point at the bleeding mass......
"See kids......Thats what happens when y dont wear a helmet"
I think that gets the message across
VS you rock angel!

Agree VS. Wouldn't not wear one back home so even thinking about it here doesn't make any sense. The Grim Reaper waits around ever corner on these roads.
Simply too many dangers and irresponsible/contemptuous drivers along with it being an extra excuse for the cops to stop you now.

Amen to that Mr Terry, ha ha ha. They also always need 'playboy money' or a contribution to the Colonel's Mercedes monthly payment fund, so it might just be a fine of whatever they can get away with.Terry wrote:Depends on the time of the month (Before or after pay day)

Certainly doesn't end up in the governments pocket, unless they actually write you a ticket, which is rare, in my experience.
