Glass Shower Door

Post by canthai »

I am looking at renovating the bathroom in my home. I was wondering if anyone had the name of a good tile installer as well as a supplier for a tempered glass shower door. Thanks

The best selection of doors I have seen was in Home Mart in Pran Buri. That was some years ago but selection seems to have improved recently. There are a number of builder's merchants in Pran Buri after the bypass rejoins the old road on the left when traveling south. Pran Buri is also good for tiles. Many of the merchants will put you on to a tiler but if you want so save money and have contacts in the North then it's better to ship one down. A ball park figure that may have gone up in the last year is 150 Baht per square meter for floors and 200 Baht per square meter for walls for laying. Tiles are from 150 Baht up.

Cha Am is worth a visit also.

We used Hua Hin Glass for our showers and were very satisfied. The owner Joe speaks perfect English, not cheap but you get what you pay for..

Totally agree - for anything involving toughend glass, wouldn't go anywhere else. Not cheap - but good quality always.

Glass Shower Door

Err - not being rude but why? The glass shower door that is. OK if you share with another farang maybe, or are putting a small shower unit in a bedroom or something, but I don't think Thai people and glass doors really get on too well, especially in slippery conditions!
Just a thought...

Glass doors also require daily cleaning if your water has calcium - which most well water in HH appears to have.

We use Hua Hin glass for ours .In places where well water is hard you do have to wipe down daily but would you not do so anyway ? Our designs cost us between 12-18k each .A more cost effective but very aesthetically pleasing effect can be acheived with a mixture of tiled blocks and glass blocks to form a screen wall .Instead of using those cheap nasty plastic edging strips ,that remind me of a PTT station toilet, try wood, stained to match the doors, or granite tiles to form an edging with window ledges and shelves to match .Works out about half the price as the granite shop is only using offcuts ,looks effective and is easy to clean .
