Didn't I read somewhere that the immigration authorities were requested to waive charges for overstay due to the closure of the airports?
I have friends that have just rang me from Soi 102 office. Immigration are insisting that they either pay for a visa extension or they will have to pay 500 per day for every day overstay. Seems they're applying those rules to everyone. If it wasn't enough that people are stranded here through no fault of their own, putting their jobs in their own country in jeopardy and running out of funds, the immigration go out of their way to do even more damage!!

I would suggest that they contact Bangkok, without referring to their visit to Hua Hin immigration, to find out what they say. I wouldn't mind betting that their advice will be to wait until the airport reopens and it will be dealt with (i.e. waived) there. It is highly unlikely that they would get stopped by an immigration official in the meantime and asked to see their passport, so I think they should kick back and relax in the sunshine for a while.
