80 Bt from the Marriot to round the corner ? :shock: I very rarely take a tuk tuk but the last time I did was from centre of town to Market Village .40 Bt for a much larger distance .Have they put the rates up ?

It's the hotel that tells people what the tuk tuk fare is and they said 80 bt. That's been the case for the 3 or so years I've been staying there.

To be honest I haven't even asked any tuk tuk drivers. Perhaps the security guys take a back-hander from the tuk tuk driver, pocketing the difference.

I'm not really bothered about it as we're only talking small amounts. What bothers me much more is coming out of the Marriott turning right on the main road to head to town. That's hairy!!!

Yes, it's not a long walk, but when it's hot you end up getting into town in a big sweat, not a good start to the evening's entertainment.

But overall Marriott is my favourite. Got to know the staff so well now they always give me my favourites room on the groundfloor beachfront.
