Just returned from the first chat get together - very enjoyable! We are hoping to make this a weekly event but possibly in the evening. Today's attendees are still discussing it. Meanwhile. the world has been put to rights and the only firm decision taken was that all Mods should be banned (I AM JOKING).

I do hope more people can attend future get togethers.

Many thanks to our host, Barry and for JW in absentia!

Big Boy,

The lime meringue was pure heaven. Sarge is a great big old army/British Air retiree that can make a pie as well as anyone I've ever known!

Huahinian, Sarge, Richard, Barry and Bill;

Thanks for a great afternoon of beers and conversation. Hope we can do it again. Sorry I had to leave in the middle to get ready for my trip to BKK tomorrow... and thanks JW for opening early to accommodate us (and discounting the beer)!

Sandman! I was really looking forward to meeting you! Hope we can have a beer another time.

Seriously, I am glad it went well. It's always good to put faces to names, and I'm sure if you manage to keep it going, attendance will increases.

A great afternoon was had by all

JW and Barry had a happy afternoon pricing strategy so one and all enjoyed it.

Oh, We eventually found the switch that shuts Sarge down. It's called Buff Bill

We missed the attendance of a few members (Sandman, Murf and Jockey) but I'm sure this inaugural meeting will be the foundation for a regular meet up

Great company, good food and cold beers and as already stated we put the World, Thailand, Hua Hin and the Forum to rights

Next meeting is scheduled for next Wednesday (time to be announced) and all are welcome

Saw JW later in the evening and he confirmed the same offer re drink and food prices applies. In fact they have a unique non Thai strategy. When the 'credit crunch is coming' lower the prices and reap the benefits

Once again, Thanks JW and Barry and your staff for a very pleasant afternoon

We'll be back

Was not going to post this until tomorrow morning but felt I had to respond asap. Oh sh1t it is tomorrow morning

Something I will add is that when you can put a face to a name and speak face to face it make a hell of a difference

Sure, that is not possible across a globally read site but for local punters it's an easy relief from the keyboard and an opportunity to air views without offending

ps Admin and Mods are welcome to the meetings. Your input is valuable to the debates

Would love to but midday on a Wednesday is in the middle of my working day, will have to wait 25 years until I can retire!

Well Huahinian and I can't make next Wednesday because we have friends from the UK arriving but we will make any subsequent meet ups

One issue discussed was the time of meet ups and it was voiced that maybe 6pm may be more appropriate. Posters who work during the day could then attend and it would widen the forum from retired old buggers who sit on their backsides all day on a keyboard to a more representative bunch of scallywags

6pm though is going mean Buff Bill is going to have to get out of bed and JW and Barry have to agree to a 'credit crunch' pricing strategy at 6pm rather than 1pm

Bill only joking. I know your up at the crack of dawn (who) working your nuts of and need your afternoon nap before start of evening business
