It seems there are two kinds of salt you can buy for a salt water pool for chlorination. Stabilized or non-stabilized.
A 15kg bag of stabilized salt is 250 thb
A 50kg bag of non-stabilized is also 250 thb
If I use the former I'm told it will it will cost me 750 thb per month (3 bags). Whereas the 50kg will only cost 250 thb. The latter doesn't have the stabilizer (which slows down the rate at which the sun burns off the chlorine) but could be a false economy.
Does anyone know about this and know where I can buy the salt cheaply? Thanks.
Which Salt to Use/Buy for a pool?
Yes, I have/had a salt system but have now converted back to regular powder chlorine. Long story not for this post. Anyway, use the 50KG bags. It doesn't burn off that quickly at all and my pool is in full sun 10 x 7 meter. No one I know in this area or Pattaya goes to the expense of using the stablizied version. The 50KG is simply table salt in rough form, it says it right on the bag.
Having said all that, be careful lugging/lifting those 50KG bags, they can do in your back quickly. When you first start off you'll need more than one bag, probably about 6 if your pool is close to the size mentioned above.
No idea about salt supply for HH. However, over here it's not a specific store for swimming pool salt, but a company that sells fertilizer, chemicals and things of that type. Pete

Our pool cleaning people run the pump times twice a day, 6am-9am and 6pm to 9pm when there is little sun to burn off the concentrated chlorine being pumped in before it gets diluted into the water.
Many of my customers who clean their own pools are now having problems a year down the line as they are not performing numerous tasks like filter backwashing, pump strainer cleaning and maybe most importantly chlorinator cell cleaning. Their cells are all furred up and not producing chlorine properly.

Just throw in goldfish every now and again and when they stop dying its time for some chemicals
Resembling pea soup is another good indicator .Under no circumstances should you go to a pool shop and seek advice .Nearly as bad as reading the manual for a new complex electronic device
Any difficulties then ask the fat bloke down the pub whose mates cousins sister had one in 1982 designed by Duncan Goodhew and Sharron Davies who both now work as sniffer dogs for the indonesian secret service and have been replaced by body doubles so nobody finds out what they are really up to .

The gauge on the top of the filter housing should read below 5. If higher, they need a backwash. They should really clean the filter strainer and backwash right after each cleaning and not be afraid of the water they're losing in the process. Water is cheaper than ruining your filter by not backwashing.Super Joe wrote:Many of my customers who clean their own pools are now having problems a year down the line as they are not performing numerous tasks like filter backwashing, pump strainer cleaning and maybe most importantly chlorinator cell cleaning. The electrodes in the saltwater system tube need to be cleaned with hydrochloric acid about every six months. Not a nice job. Pete

Sorry, typo above. pressure of 0.5, not 5
