Splitlid, does it produce the architectural and structural layouts/sections in Thai to obtain a building permit here ?
Even if not, apart from the customers it's very useful for the builders to get a perspective of what the house should end up like.

hi SJ yes it does all that, elevations, sections, layouts, doors and windows, etc and puts on sheets with details, just like you get from architects, except its only in english.havint tried to get build permit from one of them,i suspect that they wouldnt give it based on not being thai.

Hi Splitlid

I was "in the building trade" on a much bigger scale (big buildings in London and around the World) than this and we used Auto cad system that did the same thing and gave you a virtual tour of the buildings from every perspective.

I am impressed with your work and you have scaled it correctly.

So many so called artists impressions/drawings for house sale sites in Thailand, are always out of scale.

I think if you could come up with the engineering calculations and designs, for things like footings, steel reinforced columns and roof structures and drains, you could be onto a winner.

Our system did all the structural calculations together with quantities etc does your system do any calcs on these??
If not, I'm sure you are more than capable of working them out. :)

I would definitely use you, if I were getting a house built in Thailand.

hi khundon,
thanks for the compliment.
the program does BOQs, quantities also, but structural stuff i give to the engineer who does all the calculations.Again, all done in thai, so better.

No Problem Splitlid

Having seen many houses constructed in Thailand during my time there, what really worried me, was how the builders actually built the houses, based on the plans.

I never saw any QA being carried out on the concrete being poured, infact I was appaled at the way they mix and pour the stuff.

With the exception of a Large building project down the coast from HH being done by a foreign company, I never saw any testing cubes being made for 7 and 28 day strength test, nor any "slump testing" of the concrete prior to it being poured.

Then people wonder why their foundations move, the columns crack and worst case senario, the house falls down.
Much of it can be attributed to WATER in the concrete.

The enemy of concrete is WATER, and the Thais seem to make it like soup.

The cement/water ratio is vital to the strength of the product, the water is only there to start a chemical reaction and to give the concrete "workability".

The Thais need to invest in concrete vibrators, then they can cut out most of the water and this will vastly increase the strength of the concrete.

My Inlaws are having a 4 storie place built there, and I had the structural drawings sent over and ammended them myself on areas of design that worried me.
These were mainly in the concrete and the steel reinforcement sections.

Good luck to you Spitfire :thumb:

concrete, yep Thais love a bit of concrete, and the wetter the better :D .

major overkill with alot of their construction, unfortuneately modern building methods take a long time to get accepted here.

a friend once said that Bangkok was made of concrete and neon.
still have a chuckle everytime i drive in BKK at night. :)

Yes spitfire a strange love affair indeed.
I saw one "building crew" where the team mixing the concrete were all girls who all looked under 13!!

Likewise KD, before I came out here was on T5 and they bought out this software, Navis Works I think, with clash detector where you got virtual walk-throughs above false ceilings and actually see a pipe hitting the side of a bit of ductwork so you fix the clashes in front of a PC before anythings made or installed. Excellent technology.

Not really relevant to houses but it's amazing what some of this software can do these days, as shown by split 'spitfire' lid and some of Crazy88's stuff I've seen before. When I was an apprentice drawings were done by hand, ink and a scalpel blade :D

Hi Super Joe :D

I worked on T2/T3 showing my age now.

Yes they use similar software to make submarines these days, as they build the "Tube" first, then slot in modules and the clash software does all the pipes, fittings and cable runs.
Different to our day.

Downstairs plan

Width of Stairs area to be increased to 2.50 from 2.20 and rightside to be increased to 4M same as left side from 3.80.

Front area with bar stools and counter has two columns one at the end of the bar and one at the end of the bathroom wall. These need high arches :D

Bathroom. Wall seperates wet shower area from dry area.

Big area behind 3M is the kitchen. right side worktops etc. left side washing area.
