I posted a topic on a phuket board asking how expats there were faring, particularily in light of cureencies like sterling in freefall vs the baht. One poster commented that he personally knew of a number of people who had upped sticks and relocated to HH.
Any location has its plusses and minuses, imho Phukets + might be.....
1. many locations to choose from to live, patong, kata, kamala etc
2. big nightlife scence
3. good beaches and scenery
4. good air links
5 plenty to do
Its minusses are
1. bloody expensive
2. transport controlled by a nasty extortionate cartel (200 baht for a short tuk tuk ride!).
3. locals increasingly unfriendly
4. crowded, infrastructure creaking
5. pestering scamming touts in nightlife areas
I wonder if any who have relocated would care to comment, particularily if they view HH as `better value`?
Hi to all at the forum from this HH curious newbie.

Hua Hin also has all of these as stated above.cotambear wrote: 1. bloody expensive

Have a read through some of the price comparison threads, you'll find there isn't much difference between the two places, and Hua Hin also suffers the "tourist price" inflation on many things:

The only advantage I can see in Phuket is that it is a large island and you can get away from the touristed spots. Hua Hin is just one small town that is busting at the seams.
