Bank Accounts

Post by pinky »

Hi. Many apologies as i'm sure this thread has already been done .. but i am a complete novice and cant find it
Can anyone recommend a decent bank in Hua Hin? Am looking to transfer some money over here from abroad with a view to buying a second hand pick up or 4x4.
Some one has mentioned a sterling account?? have personally never heard of this.. so if anyone has any info it would be greatly appreciated. Or any ideas on the best way to transfer money from my home country??
Cheers.

Not much to choose between banks - everyone will recommend the one they prefer. I use Bangkok Bnak which I find ok. Transferring money depends on which country you are from and how much.

As Niggle says, not much between them. If you want a visa credit card then Krung Thai requirements are fairly easy to satisfy. Bank of Ayudhya(the bright yellow one) gives good exchange rates etc.

I agree with Spitfire,

I have my account at Bank of Ayudhya and they have excellent service, lots of branches and ATMs around Thailand and they consistently offer the best exchange rate (for U.S. dollars at least). They also have online banking that is not too hard to work with. :thumb:

I use BOA as well .Make sure you transfer in your own currency rather than change at home .Better rate .

I can recommend Kasikorn, always had good service there and a new branch right by the night market now on Sa Song Road.

I will recomend you to use Siam Comercial Bank, SCB offers good interest rates, cheap insurance, and good transfer rates if you are transfering from abroad. You will find them at the Market Village, 2 floor. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

I use Siam Commercial Bank too, lots of ATMs and good service, no complaints.

I would agree that Ayudhya is always near the top for exchange rates though.

I also like Kasikorn (Formerly 'Thai Farmers') they always seem to be inovative and pretty efficient - have branches and ATM's everwhere.

Probably not so much to choose between these days
