Living in Hua Hin ?????
I don't know about interest in a Thai bank account as I don't have one. My retirement extension has been granted on overseas income.
What Nereus is saying about a tourist visa versus a Non Imm O visa makes sense because I certainly don't know how accommodating the Thai Embassy will be in India (that'll be in Delhi and maybe there will come consulates around, but I doubt it in Goa).
Also you may well have to have some financial paperwork with you in India to even be considered for a Non O - despite your age. If you have that, then it's maybe worthwhile trying for a single entry or multiple entry Non O. It does cut the bureaucracy here in Thailand down a bit if you've got the Non O.
However, don't panic. A tourist visa will do and you get can things done from that as long as your financial situation is satisfactory for two months before application in a Thai bank account.
If you havn't managed to get a Non O, but have a tourist visa and you havn't managed to get Thai Thai bank account with the funds set up straight away, don't worry. Just go over the border somewhere and get another tourist visa. By the time that needs to be upgraded within Thailand to a Non O, your financial status will hopefully be OK. Imm will give you a 90 day "under consideration" stamp and you'll get the annual extension after that. I know it seems complicated, but it really isn't.
Yet again too much golf today so I hope I've explained things adequately.

Re living in Thailand,
Hi All.
OK it lookds as we have made our minds up, and are getting out of Goa. (They don't want us here anyway) And we are going to live in Thailand.
So it's heads down to planning our escape.
Thank you all for your advice, and no doubt we will back on here again to pick some ones brain.
And as for going to Dehli,
i would rather have all my teeth pulled without the needle.
So will speak again soon.
Many Thanks.
Willb

Interest on 800,000 bht
Hi again.
Here we are again with questions.
Not so much bothered about the interest on this money, but does the money have to stay in the A/C all the time or can we use the money after the three months. ie: checking or ATM card.
Regards.

Re: Interest on 800,000 bht
You can use it, in fact immigration will look to see if you are using it to live on. As long as the balance equals, or exceeds 800,000 Baht for the 3 months prior to your visa extension, they are happy. Tax will be withheld on any Interest earned, and interest is paid twice per year with most Banks.willb wrote:Hi again.
