Visiting HH next week. Manxman needs advice please.

Post by Lindsay »

Hi
I am a 55 year old firefighter and I am visiting HH from 28th/3 for 10 days, hopefully to do some freshwater fishing. Any advice there please?
I have been to Thailand before and sort of know what to expect culture wise..beautiful friendly people and a smile.
I am staying at Jings guesthouse (any feedback on there please?.
Also I would just like to know if anyone can reccomend any good bars for a solitary 60/70's music fan!
I won't ask the time honoured question about the weather this time of year, as what will be will be!
Many thanks

Welcome to the forum, Lindsay. Lots of good and positive answers coming up on all of those: Terry's fishing lodge and Jings are certainly very popular - but since I have no personal experience of them I'll leave that for others.
This is the way

Totally agree Jings is great value and the guys who run the place are very friendly and helpful.

Lindsay,

Just out of curiosity, where are you coming from?... and if you find that bar with the good 60's/70's music, let us all know where it is. :D

I wish I could still get that excited about coming back here. I used to years ago. Now that it's home, the excitement has worn off. Human nature I guess. :( Pete

Pete,

You're right... The best way to ruin a hobby is to make it your profession, and the best way to ruin a holiday/vacation destination is to make it your home! :(

Never stayed at Jings but I've always only heard good stories. Also, Only good things said about Terry's fishing lodge which I'm still trying to get to. Everytime I have a day set aside something comes up and plans have to change. Oh well, another month and a half before the eldest goes to school so at least then I'll get the time......lol.

I also see lots of Thai riding about carrying fishing rods but I've never managed to find out where they go. Coming from Cape Topwn, my passion is more surf angling but I'm yet to find out where I can go for that over here. In fact I was recently considering an all night attempt off the rock there near where the fishing boats come in at Takiap but not sure if there's even anything to catch. Having said that, fishing is great whether you catch anything or not

 I think I must have lived there, in a former life. Hic, Burp, Belch.

Enjoy your stay in HH.
