Not quite, my interpretation is that the gold was donated the first time around (see my comment, we know one lady who has recently given her 35 Baht of gold jewellery to this temple). There is no way you could buy these (not so) little solid gold images for £330 - they are 9 to 12 inches high.

I think the £330 is to pay to have your name engraved on to one of the images.

Id donate 330 quid to see that monstrosity demolished.....its hideous
