Not quite, my interpretation is that the gold was donated the first time around (see my comment, we know one lady who has recently given her 35 Baht of gold jewellery to this temple). There is no way you could buy these (not so) little solid gold images for £330 - they are 9 to 12 inches high.What they're doing is selling it and collecting for a second time.
I think the £330 is to pay to have your name engraved on to one of the images.
