Mags, my Thai partner manages to dispense with having a handbag by keeping all that stuff you girls need in the compartment under the seat of a Honda Wave.
Incidentally, in Thailand a Honda Wave can cost less than some handbags!

You're right about the cost! Even some of last years 'designer fake' bags cost much more than the humble Wave!

margaretcarnes :?

What is it about handbags, on her last visit to LOS my dear lady came back with 15 yes 15 new ones.

She has at least that many here in UK already.

Very soon, we will need to move house to a property that can accommodate them all.

I made the mistake of searching one for my car keys, I was in there for a week.

New Wave of Muggings

Post by margaretcarnes »

FIFTEEN NEW BAGS Don? Wow, I'm well impressed. I only managed 3 last trip. Must be slipping.
Why do we do it? Well believe me some of us do try to control the urge. It's not easy, especially in LOS where the range of goodies is extreme, and prices can be bargain level.
Think of it as a 'comfort blanket' thing. Something to cling onto. We flash the bags every time we pay for stuff as well, and they are noticed.
We meet chums and the first thing they notice is a new bag. Not the shoes.
A bag can make a statement and lift the spirits. It can brighten up an old outfit. It can be in an outrageous colour which we would never dream of wearing next to our skin! And it can be big for work and small for going out. The possibilities are ENDless.
Plus of course you buy one, then find another you like better around the corner, so buy that as well.
Just be thankful your wife no doubt got Thai price!

...or be used as the basis for an entirely new outfit, if my GF is anything to go by (or buy :D )

Swerving back to the topic though, I remember the bad old days when the UK was still called home, a stanley knife through the bottom of the bag was the easiest way to empty the contents, regardless of how its being held. far better I think to carry only the money you need in a pocket - if the worst should happen and you do get mugged, you only lose what you have on you.

I dream of my wifes bag getting snatched.
I am sure no bagsnatcher could spend as much as my wife with a card. And on a mission.

They could try snatching my wife's bag, if they can lift it. :D

I can't find the kitchen sink but I know it's safe in her handbag.

Keep your money in your pocket and your gold jewelry at home, same as we do when in Rome. They are experts there at the handbag nicking game.

I don't know Sarge and when I ask, she replies "it's all stuff that I need".

Nuff Said. :?

I was sat in a bar last night when two young lads on a red scooter, wearing old full face helmets came around the corner at a reckless speed.
A few seconds later a Thai girl ran past saying that they had snatched her bag, so keep a wary eye out if you see lads at night wearing full helmets.

Just a thought but as these Snatchers are being seen/witnessed - has anyone bothered to report them to the BIB? All bikes have registration numbers and if reported by a Thai there is a "sporting" chance that they will do something about it.

Pity the poor bugger who would have tried to snatch Mrs. Thatcher's handbag! She was able to handbag world leaders and big strong miners.
