From the Bangkok Post:

April 27 is expected to be the hottest day of the year, according to the Meteorological Department. On that day, the sun will be directly above Thailand, causing the temperature to increase, said Somchai Baimuang, director of the weather bureau.

However, the sweltering heat could be tempered somewhat because of a high pressure belt from April 24 to 27, which should bring rain.

After that, Thailand will wilt under high temperatures again before the rainy season kicks in, Mr Somchai said.

He said the average temperature across the country this month was below 40C, or two to three degrees below projections as a result of intermittent rain.

Thailand's hottest day was recorded on April 25, 2007, when the temperature hit 44C in Tak province.

Yeah Pete! At least by the ocean you've got the sea breeze, once you go inland then it's just a sauna at the moment, an unforgiving one aswell. Some rain would be welcome to cool things down a bit.

Pull up some of that nice cold well water from your place up there. Am sure much cooler than the hot stuff coming out of the city water pipes here. A cool swim and a cool shower is impossible here these days. Even the mayna birds are flying around with their mouths hanging open trying to cool off.

), well, regarding water, not seen any wells around. Maybe you were thinking of STEVE G there.

I should be visiting Korat in the next 2 weeks, My friend in HH said it was 37 in the shade on Monday

. Still Its better than working in Blighty.

Its a relatively chilly (for you) 20'c here at the mo!.

Well BZ, cool, it's a huge city(2nd or 3rd biggest in LOS), got everything really, many are surprised at the place when they finally get to visit.

Great hotels, bars, restaurants, huge mall, places to visit(like Phimai) etc and not too expensive. Main drawback is no beach or the lifestyle that goes with it. Don't believe the travel guide books, there're toilet paper apart from a half-decent list of hotels and restaurants and must emphasize half-decent, being kind.

Your mate, however, is quite right, it's hot as hell at the moment here.

If you get stuck for hotel/restaurants or "recreational" destinations then PM me and I'll suggest a few depending on whether you are "accompanied" or not.

Don't want to stray off topic too much, so will leave it there.

Looking forward to getting to another part of Thailand, Not sure exactly where im staying yet, Thats up to the people im going with as my friends G/f comes from that way, Family lives in a village and not in the city.

I'll make the most of the coolness here until Saturday

In the Middle east when the water in the pipes gets too hot, we turn off the hot water heater and use the hot tap for cold water, the Air con keeps it a bit cooler. Temp is just nice here now at 32C but on its way up to high 40s and low 50s in a couple of months.

Even in our village they have government mains water now, but just for a couple of hours in the morning and same again in the evening. If you need any more we now have two big irrigation ponds.
It’s a bit muddy but the kids and dogs seem to like to swim in it!

Or should it be coldest day.
