Electronic kitchen scale

Post by Francois »

The last "Pâté de campagne" I prepared was too salty. Good, but really too salty... As a consequence, I'm looking for an electronic kitchen scale. I checked at Index, Tesco, Homepro and did not find something. Ok, my wife always says that I am not a reference for seeking an item...

Does anyone have an idea ?

Are you interested by the recipe ?

Hi Francois
I'm afraid I can't help you with the electronic kitchen scales - took me months to find a simple mechanical one - eventually got it here in Pranburi.

I would be very, very interested in the recipe though ..... mouth watering already :D

Easy :D

You need :

1 kg Porc meat (2/3 shoulder, 1/3 fat belly)
350 g Chicken liver
4 cloves garlic
10 Thai shallots
Dried parshley
24 g salt
7 g Black pepper from the mill
1 whole egg
2 sprigs Thyme
1 bay leave
Sang som :)

Mince all the meat, including the chicken liver and garlic and shallots as well put it in a large bowl (I used a stainless steel wok). Add egg, 1 tbsp parsley, salt and pepper. Pour ca. 60 ml (4 tablespoons) Sang Som. Mix all this stuff with your hands so that it is well blended.

Pour this mixture in an oven safe bowl (earthstone at Tesco) and put on the top a bay leave and 2 sprigs of thyme. Cover your bowl.

Put in your oven set on 170°C for 1 1/2 hour.

Let it cool in the oven.

Much tasty if you wait 2 days before eating...

Enjoy

Francois:

Merci beaucoup for the recipe. I read it out to the man that cooks (husband) and he liked it.

Ref. scales: you can buy the little dial ones (which are reasonably accurate) in the small shopping mall in Hua Hin or at Tesco Lotus. You can buy the electronic ones at Central (Bangkok).

Good luck, and thanks for the free recipe! :)

Right... This morning I went to day market and I found my kitchen scale.

There is a shop specialized in kitchenware just at the crossing Sra Song and Dechanuchit roads. This is at your RHS when heading north.

Simple (spring loaded) scale : 270 thb
Electronic : a bit more than 3 000 thb...

Now you can go for pâtés & terrines :)

Sorry, the address is wrong.

It's crossing Soi 70 (Chomsin) and Sra Song road, RHS when heading north.

Ok...

When in Sra Song road, having Chatchai market on your right hand side, you continue up to the crossing Sra Song / Chomsin road (Soi 70). The shop is on this corner on your right hand side.

Well, in the end it only took me just about a year to get round to making Francois' paté de campagne.

I'm sorry I waited so long - it's absolutely delicious, thanks Francois :)

Just one thing, though - there was an opinion offered here that it could do with a lot more Sang Som - so we drank that with it as a compromise  :thumb:
