US Embassy Bangkok

Post by Name Taken »

I recently went to the United States embassy in Bangkok to have more pages added to my passport. I arrived at the embassy at 7:30 a.m. and i expected pages to be added to my passport within an hour, i ended up waiting for half the day and did not get any pages at all added to my passport. I asked them several times why it was taking so long to do this very simple task and they kept giving me some excuse about "the system is down". The staff at the ACS were very unhelpful and did not seem to know how to do their jobs properly and i am very disappointed to say the least. It was a real freakshow in the ACS part of the embassy too, like i said, my recent visit to the US embassy was a real bad and disappointing experience.

American Embassy-Passport Pages

Post by brianks »

I just went their last week to do the same. Arrived at 10:30am and they called me up immediately after filling out form. Asked if I could return at 1pm and came back at 1:20 and went directly to window (as instructed) and retrieved my passport with more pages added. Must have been something unusual happen for you. I have not had any problems at the Embassy in the past. :D

I think you had the bad luck to have gone when they were having a bad day. I was there about two weeks ago to do the same thing and I was surprised at how quick they added the pages. Less then two hours from start to finish.

Yeah, maybe it was just bad luck, i don't know. :|
Just FYI: I read on the US Consulate in Chiang Mai website that they now require all US citizens to make an online appointment for all non-emergency services. So now US citizens can no longer just show up at the US Consulate in Chiang Mai and walk-in and have pages added to their passports etc. without having made an appointment online prior to showing up at the US Consulate in Chiang Mai. This new online appointment system at the US Consulate in Chiang Mai is just another hoop that US citizens living in Thailand will have to jump through.
I sometimes feel that the US government really does not want to help US citizens living in Thailand and overseas.
