Shed Guesthouse

Can someone tell me if the Shed Guesthouse is still in business, and is it still managed by the same sociable British fellow? Cheers!

It has changed hands several times over the last few years. When I came, it was owned by a Canadian named Barry. He sold it to Rod (maybe the Brittish fellow you mentioned as he's the one who changed the name to the Shed), then Rod moved away and sold it to another Briton. I think it has changed hands again since then but I don't know the current status. If I go by in the next few days I'll check it out and give you an update.

Yes, that's the second British guy's name. So it was (in succession in about 6 years): Richard, English, don't remember the name of the place; then Barry, Canadian, J&B's Guesthouse; then Rod, English, The Shed, Rick, English, still The Shed, and now Rick's wife (I don't think Rick is still involved in any way), Thai, still The Shed.

That's right, it was Barry, Rod, then Rick. Has Rick left Thailand? Does anyone know if Barry is still lurking about? Great guys!

Matthew80,

Barry is still around. He ran a small place called the Friday Family Bar in Saturkarn square for about a year but it closed in March as they are demolishing the whole block to make room for a new hotel. He is in the process of opening a place on the Pala U road across from the La Valee development, but I spoke with him a couple of days ago and the building is still finishing construction. He hopes to be open next month.

Rick is also still in Hua Hin. I ran into him at Browne's guest house (Original Fish and Chips restaurant) a couple of weeks ago (see closed thread under Feeding Time). One of the owners of that place is also Richard who owned that bar you are talking about before Barry. He should be able to get you in touch with Rick.

Rod went back to England with his wife. She was either very pregnant at the time or had just had the baby and I think they chose to raise their child in England.
