I have never carried any proof of where I live for either my annual visa extension or my 90 day reporting. Immigration really has no idea of my living situation here except what I write in the little space on the forms where it asks for my address.
Again, you cant tell from that if I live in a condo or house ( my own or someone elses) , rent a room in a hotel, or live under a bridge. They cant tell my living arrangements either . .I could live alone, with a spouse, with a family, with relatives, with friends . . .whatever. ( And what would qualify me as head of household anyway?)
I really cant figure out why some of you are getting asked to produce such documents!
And the law you link to up there still says to me that hotels and guest houses are required to do this ("accommodating foreigners on a temporary basis" . . .ie tourists. )
The heading says. . . "Notification of residence of foreigners for businesses" So if you are NOT a business . .this doesnt apply.
(I think that perhaps HH Immigration may be misusing or misinterpreting this law though.)
If you need time in Bangkok, just plan to arrive on a Friday like I did last month. They are closed Saturday and Sunday so obviously you cant report. I went in Monday and was fine ( though she did check her calendar against the arrival date on my reentry permit)
As well, never a mark in the passport itself. Unless you count the staple holes when they staple in the 90 day form.
Because they send you in to the 90 day officer for this 24 hour thing, and she handles it by filling out your new 90 day form . .I still say it is connected somehow to the 90day reporting process.. . some regulation we have not yet uncovered.
