I'm with you Norm,

My instructions also include cremation and burial at sea in a specific location so that I have a chance of becoming whale shark food. :D

Now we know why the sea is so polluted and so many species on the ext. list ha, ha! Must have been the yappy dog !!!
Remember seeing a film where a group of friends threw the ashes of their deceased mate of a cliff only to have them revist them in the face after a strong up draft. Brings a tear to your eyes.

I saw that film too... it was funny! That's why I've picked a friend who is a CEO of an IT company to be in charge of the discharge of my remains. I think he knows the difference between upwind and downwind... :D :D :D

He and the party have also been instructed to toast my passing with the finest single malt scotch (imo), Oban, which will have to be imported, so I have to leave a nice budget with him to cover the costs of the floating party.

Too much information y'all!! But all quite amusing. I just wanted to know if there were no instructions or family contacts what the authorities would do with the meat. If no one claims a John Doe here it sits in the morgue awhile and is later buried at public expense. I'd rather float in the wind.

Apparently in Mumbai (Bombay) the bodies can be taken to the tower of death and the vultures can have a feed and a variant of that is in Tibet where they smash your skull and allow the birds of prey and carrion to feast.
Many choices for LAN to ponder!
PS Oban - real good. Tried Ardberg (single malt but rich peaty flavour) would go well with a nice BBQ????

Die, that's the last thing I shall do.
I've lost my mind and I am making no effort to find it.

Kundon and migrant are right.
If you are dead does it matter what they do with you, and why worry about it when you are alive it happens to us al one day.
So what ever they decide to do with my body I do not give a s**t
:D
Woke up this morning breathing that's a good start to the day.

If you don't mind, I'm going to bring religion up here.
I've never understood how I could reincarnate, go to hell and all the rest of it when the time comes.
However, all religions say that I must adhere to some belief regarding my death.
I just don't believe.

Lomu,

People are eternal optimists whether we admit it or not. I've seen non-religious people become very religious in their waning years. I think in a way it's just hedging your bets.

No one wants to think that when you die that's it... nothing... nada... no more anything, so a lot of us become "religious" in some form or other when we realize we are in our twilight years and won't live forever.

Unfortunately for me, I was raised Southern Baptist Christian and that pretty much ruined the whole idea of religion for me.

From all I've read and heard, I like Buddhism the best of all religions if you have to subscribe to one because it seems to be the only one that is basically peaceful and not trying to force itself down every one else's throats, but the belief of reincarnation, especially the one that the life form you come back as is dependent on how you live this life is not very appealing to me, if you know what I mean. I'm afraid I may come back as a frog or worse! :D :D :D

HHF,

Me, too. That's why the thought of being dead and that's the end is actually comforting to me. I don't know if you got the same graphic descriptions I did, but for a five or six year old, it was pretty harrowing stuff! Kind of like watching 'Night of the Living Dead' every Sunday morning.

Ok, I'll be Rastafarian, or maybe a Parsi with the hanging towers in Bombay, or maybe Christian. Or Hindu, Muslim or any of them.
As far as death is concerned, all religions give the believers the opportunity of another life.
Which one do you believe in?
