Another Rape. Pattaya

Post by tuktukmike »

PATTAYA: -- A BRITISH woman has been r_aped in Thailand after accepting a lift home from a party by a young Thai man on a motorcycle, just weeks after another holidaymaker was murdered.

The 28-year-old woman from Liverpool had been holidaying in the Thai resort of Pattaya, 100 miles east of Bangkok, and had been at a party in the beach resort with friends.

After offering to take the woman to her hotel, the man instead drove her to a secluded spot and raped her in the early hours of Saturday. He was later reported to have apologised after the attack. Police in Pattaya said: "We have a 19-year-old man in custody who will be charged with rape and will appear in court on Wednesday."

Following the attack and in the wake of the rape and murder of Reading University student Katherine Horton on the Thai island of Koh Samui, senior police from Bangkok rushed to Pattaya to supervise the investigation.

The two Thai fishermen accused of murdering and raping 21-year-old Ms Horton, from Thornill, Cardiff, will be sentenced on Wednesday.

Why on earth would a single woman accept a lift from a stranger so soon after the Horton case.

The mind boggles.

Yes,

Exactly as Jaime says.

What is needed here and all over the world is some lessons in street wisdom. The basics of which apply in Pattaya, Bangkok, LA, Chicago, London (especially), Hong Kong, New York and Cardiff.

No government in the world will take this responsibility. It is up to we, (the old gits) to drum it into the less wise generation, the basics of stree wisdom.

This extends more than where you go and who you go with buit also to Dr. Dave's very explicit description of what can happen if you you do not wear a decent crash helmet when riding on a motorcycle. That applies to a pillion rider (in Thailand that could mean up to five people) or the rider himself.

It seems that common sense is not readily available to many people.

My request is that those of us that have it pass it on to those who have not.

My sympathies, as always, are with the victims and their families.

What I would like to see is less of them. All of this shit should have become redundant about two hundred years ago.

People are very vulnerable when they are having a good time. The tropics are (in)famous for affecting the judgement of The White Man.
