Farang-Jai dee ?
You often hear stories about sneaky, greedy and golddigging Thai ladies, and sadly enough they -the stories- are often true.
But today I saw the other side of the coin, a lady working for me, not a BG, met a farang man a couple of months ago. Maybe the horse was not exactly white and the armour not all that shiny, but it was a way out.
Off she went to get herself a passport, prebooked a flight (no money paid) and 10 days ago the happy couple went to the Swedish Embassy to apply for a 4 weeks touristvisa, with him as a sponsor. Yesterday she went back to the embassy, believing she was going to get her visa. But was refused, with the only explanation: "Ask your boyfriend" and a letter in Swedish. She brought me that letter today, where it was explained that Mr. Superswede two weeks earlier had applied for a touristvisa for another Thai lady during exactly the same period of time, and because of that the Embassy considered HER not trusthworthy and awarded her with a red stamp in her passport: Refused Schengen. I asume, that unless she gets another passport, she will not be able to travel to Europe for the five years her passport is valid for ?
There are some not very considerate guys out there.

Hi all,
I have always wondered at the maliciousness of the Immigrqation Dept's of many countries. Ok, so deny the Visa. But is it really necessary to stamp the passport "Visa Denied" in big red letters?
Next time you are having issues re: Thailand Immigration consider how we treat Thai's coming to our countries. In the eyes of (certainly Australia and UK) Thai=Prostitute.

The staff at the Swedish Embassy consular section don't make up their own rules but follows the strict guide lines set up by the Swedish Immigration Bureau. It is in fact very easy for Thais to get a companion visiting visa to Sweden (Schengen) provided the Thai is sponsored by a Swede. The only catch is in fact that some evidence must be provided that shows that the applicant and the sponsor know each other, hence the interview of the applicant.
The rules are set up in the way they are more for protection of the Thai, mostly women, because there have unfortunately been too many bad guys in the past who brought their ladies to Sweden and then mistreated them, than it is to prevent a Thai form visiting Sweden. Therefore, when someone is denied a visa it is actually more often due to previous actions by the guy rather than with the girl. Further, whether the girl has been working in the sex trade or not has no merit what so ever when the consular section judge her application.
Sweden has a very positive attitude towards Thais and before Sweden joined the Schengen club Thai citizen could visit our country without the need for a visa for up to six months per year.

Jimmy,
Agreed. She has done nowt wrong except believe someone, and has ended up with a comment she didn't need in her passport. Granted it takes only about 2 - 3 days for a thai to get a passport, but its not the point. Surely a letter stating the visa was refused would be less damaging to her. The "Entry refused" notation damns her in it's brevity.

I'm inclined to agree, BB. I've no idea how these things operate nowadays, but I wouldn't recommend going down the 'get a new passport' route. It strikes me as likely that the click of a mouse would reveal a previous refusal - then the visa officer would be refusing on the basis that the lady had attempted to conceal the refusal.Big Boy wrote:Excuse my ignorance, but is it really such a problem? This is the way
The applicant is responsible for the information in their application even if supplied by others and they were completely unaware it was false. Harsh and unfair.Mr. Superswede two weeks earlier had applied for a touristvisa for another Thai lady during exactly the same period of time, and because of that the Embassy considered HER not trusthworthy and awarded her with a red stamp in her passport: Refused Schengen. She can apply again, red stamp is no big deal, what they look for next time is the areas where it was refused on to be satisfied. Guess her next application will be with a.n.other.
New Passport ??
Agree with D-M and BB, and recommend NOT getting a new passport and NOT claiming in any future applications that you have never previously been denied, they'll probably already know mwahahah. Then your next refusal may be promoted to 'deception' from 'insufficient proof of relationship/funds' etc ....
The UK - Think now changed to UK Border Agency from UKVisas!?:
