HHfarang if they ever throw us out of LOS then I think we would probably end up in either Costa Rica, Panama or Uruguay. Never been to Uruguay but from what I read it sounds good. Liked Panama but didn't really find an area that we thought "this is it". Costa Rica was nice but that was 20 years ago so our research there is a bit dated.
Ideally I would live six and six between LOS and Australia or the US. However Australia does not let you bring your cat with out a long quarantine and lots of cost. The wife would never leave her behind for long so that is pretty much out. The US will allow the cat but it is too long a flight and very expensive so I think we will hope they don't notice us and just stay right here.
I agree Spanish is a piece of cake compared to Thai.

Latin America was a thought for me, until my Thai wife. I speak decent spanish, and travelled often to Costa Rica, Honduras and the other countries down there having been involved with a Honuran woman at one time. Costa Rica the most developed, but getting more expensive as it gets 'discovered'. They do have nice golf courses, been on 2 and spoke with the designer of the one that was going in at the time at the Four Seasons Hotel in the Guanecaste region.

I don't know about the Norwegians but the main stream Swedish tourists to Thailand chose Phuket, Kao Lak, Krabi or Koh Lanta as their holiday destinations. The majority fly here with charter flights on package tours.prcscct wrote:http://www.bangkokpost.com/business/tou ... currencies
As for the Swedes who are having holiday homes in Thailand, they have predominantly bought their houses in five areas: Phuket, Huay Yang, Hua Hin, Bang Saen and Ban Phe/Laem Mae Phim.
