Re-entry visa up-date

Post by beachyhead »

A week ago I asked advice on obtaining a re entry visa as the Immigration office in Hua Hin decided to close on the Monday as well as the offical public holidays on the Tuesday and Wednesday which caught me well and truly out and was told that possibly in special cases you could still obtain one at the airport. I went there early and managed to sweet talk my way through to the passport area and even managed to get through there to sit with the big boss and explain my situation. He spoke very good English and was very polite but told me that a re entry permit cannot for any reason be issued at the airport, so don't get caught out like me !!

Sorry to hear that. I really did think that you might have a chance given the exceptional circumstances although Nereus (I think it was he) stated on the thread that you wouldn't get one. If I remember correctly, that was the only choice you had left though.
Your best bet now will be to get another Non Imm O from wherever you are and extend again when you return to Thailand in the normal fashion.
It really is crazy that you can't obtain a re-entry permit at the main exit point in the country.

That's why I've thrown away 2000 baht every year since 2005 when I renew my visa annually. I pay the extra 2k for a multiple re-entry permit even though I know I will probably not use it.

I haven't left Thailand since October 2005 but in case of a family or health emergency, I want to be able to leave (and return) without a paperwork hassle. Having that capability without the worry is worth 2k per year to me.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

I agree, and I just got one. But I would like to point out that a single re-entry is 1000 Baht, a multiple 3,800 Baht.
