American Airforce Bangkok stunt

Post by margaretcarnes »

The Sunday Telegraph on 11th October carried a brief article on a flying stunt performed by two American airforce jets over Bangkok recently.
I can't believe this was actually allowed to happen - or why - but the photo showed one jet flying upside down directly above the other, with tail fins almost touching. It made for a stunning pic, but the mind boggles at what could have happened if it had gone wrong!
Did anyone out there see it - or any explanation as to why it was done?
A sprout is for life - not just for Christmas.

Think what you may have seen were the "Blue Angels" which where in BKK recently.
They do this all over the world. Top notch pilots.

No, it was the USAF Thunderbirds, the Air Force version of the Navy's Blue Angles. Performed in the skies over Don Muang on Saturday. All legit Mags as invited here by the government.

Reports said it was quite a show and cars simply stopped and parked on the elevated expressway near Don Muang and people got out to watch the show. Pete

Funny, when I went to youtube and did a search for "Blue Angels Thailand"
videos for the Blue Angel Ladyboy bar here in Hua Hin came up.

And the police booked them for being below the "minimum speed" :P

But where was this advertised? A world class show and I`m damned if I saw it advertised anywhere, and I live in Bangkok most of the time.
Is there some web site that advertises these types of events?

There was a Disney show on this past weekend at Muang Thong Thani, and I only became aware of that by chance. OF course, all the hi-so`s and their badly behaved little darlings knew about it! :cuss:

I didn't see any advertising either. I only saw a small story in either the Post or Nation a day or two before the show that they had arrived at Don Muang. Pete

The GF told me about it.
There was a news report on a Thai channel ON THE first DAY that the show had taken place.
I said "Sh*T, I would have liked to have gone to see that"!
Just like the motocross races at the "48 Rai".

Who know's what else has come thru that has not been heard about/reported on after the fact.

Yeah, if somebody finds a website that advertises events I would be highly interested.

This has really been bugging me and I have been looking high and low. The best I've come up with is the below link to The Nation 'see-do' section. I don't think one listing exists for the entire country, so I guess we'll have to be satisfied with what appears to be mainly for Bangkok. Pete
