What I'm really trying to work out is the maximum time permitted to stay in Thailand if I arrive with a double entry '60 day' tourist visa.
Is it 2 months then out and in for another 2 month stay then the 1 month extension to give 5 months total or 2 months followed by 1 month extension then out and in again to repeat another 2+1 = 6 months total stay.
One other question please : If it was a single entry and I intended doing the 2 + 1 =3 months scenario but say 5 weeks after arriving I went by road for a few days to Malaysia then back again would I have messed it up and then only get 15 more days to stay in Thailand on top of the initial 5 week stay ?

Maximum on a double entry TV is approx 6mths. (60+30. Exit/enter 60+30).
In your second scenario, you can keep your original permitted to stay stamp of 60 days alive by getting a re-entry permit at an Imm office. Single re-entry costs 1,000THB. Without that stamp, your permitted to stay stamp will be canceled and as you've already used the visa, you're stumped.
Correct, 15 days is all you'll get at a land crossing when you return. With the re-entry stamp, you'll be allowed to enter up to the date of your original entry stamp.
Sorry for the confusion earlier. I was just trying to point out that with a double entry TV, you need to activate the second entry before the visa expires

Yes, posted to Hull. £15 on the form for "admin" £9.90 at the post office and delivered back in 4 days. Sorted.caller wrote:BaaBaa/Lomu - thanks again.
Gawd, its not that clear is it! Okay, so I apply now and as long as I enter LOS within 3 months of the date stamped in my passport, I get 60 days - thats all I need by a couple of days.
BaaBaa - did you apply via Hull?
caller,
I havn't had a visa from Hull for a while, but it will say on there "valid until", "enter before", "this visa must be utilised before" and a date that will be 3 months after the visa "issued date".
As long as you enter before the "valid until" etc date, you'll get 60 days.
BaaBaa will be able to tell you the exact wording from Hull as he's just got his visa.

Last year when I went to Thailand I got a 6o day tourist visa before I left the states. I arrived in Mid December and asked at the Immigration officer not to stamp my visa and give me a 30 day stamp. I showed him my flight to Singapore in Mid January with a return to Thailand. He didn't stamp the visa and I used the 60 tv in Mid January on my return. I was able to stay until Mid April when I paid 1800 baht in mid March to extend the 60 days to 90 days. The best way I have found to stay pretty much 4 months in Thailand. All I need to get away from the cold winters in New England. The consulates in the US are giving the visa for free, you only have to pay for shipping. But it was only $35 to begin with. I would like to see a reduction in Airport tax at swampy than free tourist visas.
Should do, I posted on a Saturday and it was delivered back on a Wednesday. (Was working, picked up Thursday)caller wrote:Posting tomorrow - keep forgetting to take my passport to work, hopefully get it back before next weeks strikes.BaaBaa. wrote:Any progress?caller wrote:Okay, so I apply now
You wrote £15 and stuck your own return special delivery bag in?

I'll bet if you wrote £28 they'd take it!
Uuhhhmmmm BaaBaa, I took the passport today but forgot the passport photo! So will post locally tomorrow AM - and no queues! If all works well should get back to me by Wednesday by your rules. I did phone though and they confirmed the £15 - they didn't mention that the first time I called (naughty, naughty
) and the bit about special delivery
Do you want an update tomorrow to make sure I'm doing as told?!

Should be back within 2 days mate, don't know if the strike will effect it.caller wrote:They have it now though - checked the tracking service. Hopefully they turned it around the same day? Will find out tomorrow!
Check your balance as well, a sure fire way of knowing if they've stamped it.
