A must for first time visitors

Hi there. My family and I (inc children aged 3 & 10), will be staying at the hilton HH this July for a couple of weeks. Am I correct in asuming that we can take children into all the bars in HH. Im looking forward to trying the bar at the hilton, Ive heard it has live bands every night. Anyway... I was hoping that people may be able to give me some advice on where to go at night ( we do like a drink and like to stay out till whenever) and also what to do during the day also. My son has already spotted that there is a kart track.lol! Any help and recomendations will be much apreciated,

HI Havent been in HH for a few months but when I was there Kids were welcome in most bars.( Avoid the ones with poles outside JOKE!!! ) most have pool tables and unless its pool night kids are more than welcome to play. A lot of the girls will make a fuss of them. ( IN a good way ) Try Johnny Walkers ,Mondo Always welcomed kids when I was there last. Ask behind bar and you'll even find a good babysitter very cheap. Hi Mrs Maggoo welcome to the board always nice to have new members of the opposite sex on here your oppinion is valued and as said in the last post most of the bars welcome and will make a fuss over kids

July is a long timeaway and bars come and go. i was in HH in November and there were kids in various bars, some with tourists and some with local girls. No one cared, a basic Thai atttitude.

One of my favorites is the RoadHole. A good pacle to get a cold Guiness in the pm and watch everyone come home from work. Lots of English and Irish and soccer on tv. A good palce to get acquainted.

the Hilton Disco/Brewary is also a good Place for Kits, maybee a bit to loud.
I see a lot of Kits age about 6 with parents up to 11 pm.

I would definitive not bring my children to the Hellton Disco.
As you say, it's way too noisy.

I guess it depends on the kids and what they are used to whether they would find it noisy at the Hilton Brewery ? Mrs M knows it has live bands but doesn't seem put off ...

Of course, you could always sit outside there also if you found it too noisy inside.

I think even the kids would find the live band amusing as they are so ...... er ..... bad !

Of course it all depends on what you stuff in you childrens ears, but I would not bring my under age children to that disco!!
There's sooo many other nice places to go.

Maybe some confusion here on the bars at the Hilton.Actually off the foyer in the main building of the Hilton there is live music which was performed by a couple of charming Philipinas last time I was there.I was there with 2 chi;dren and they enjoyed it immensly.However do not confuse this venue with the disco which receives so much comment on this site that I am sure you will have read about it.Drinks are expensive but you are in the Hilton so there will always be an incremental increase.After that you can walk down to Goannas and play pool and enjoy a peaceful evening.Never fear whatever bar you step into you will never have hassle from Thai working girls,they love kids as most have children of their own and genuinely like to chat with Farang women.Digger

I have a 4 year old whom I sometimes take out with me at night. I agree with many of the previous posts about the Hilton. (If you're talking about the Hua Hin Brewing Company) I've never taken him in there & I wouldn't. Far too loud & once the evening gets going, far too crowded to keep an eye on him. I'm not going to comment on the music or anything else...
If you're talking about the lobby etc, fine, but you might need to keep a tight rein on the kids to avoid upsetting other patrons. There are a lot of other bars & restaurants which (sometimes despite their outer appearance) are extremely child-friendly. From my experience, Thais love kids & bar staff (if not too busy) will happily commandeer them for a good part of the night & keep them amused, leaving you free to enjoy a beer (or whatever)

Thanks everyone for the advice.
I was thinking of seeing the live bands more then going to the disco with the children to be honest. My children quite like live music and it does tend to keep them sitting nicely for a while.
However, Im not going all the way to HH to sit in the same bar all night every night, so Im pleased that it seems that kids are welcome in most bars.
I just wondered also what activities you'd recommend for the daytime. I know about the kart track (my son already spotted that!!) and the elephant sanctuary but just wonderd what else (if anything is on offer).
I recently read a review on another site by someone that hated the Hilton. They said it was awful. Hopefuly it will suit us more then a quiet, honeymoon type place, esspecially with our lively kids.lol!

The Hilton is fine with or without kids. The rooms are large and the lobby and pool area are noisy and bustling (not honeymooney at all) so you will be fine the bar area is not so good much nicer and friendlier bars outside. As a day trip try Mermaid cruises it is a good day out on a large clean boat with a good crew ask for Stuart to go with you he will keep the kids amused he can't stand anyone being bored. You will have a good time in Hua Hin.

If your kids like animals you could take them to Wat Khao Takiab (Monkey Mountain). They have wild monkeys living in the temple grounds and you can buy food (bananas & peanuts) to feed them with. My 4 year old loves going up there. It's only something to kill an hour or so, though, not a full-day thing!
Word of warning, the monkeys can be a little demanding. They can also steal things (ice creams, drinks etc) from unsuspecting little hands. Just an idea.

So what's the deal with the H. I've been to Hau Hin several times; but have never gone to the H--even for a drink. Just not my style as they are so boring here in the US
