A couple of weeks back, in Ranong, I was getting Leo in a bar for 35 baht a small bottle. I don't think I can even get it at 7/11 for that in HH. Plus Phuket is soooo quiet, that I would reckon much everything should be negotiable. Why Hua Hin seems to feel it can buck the trend I don't know. Even on Selakem, I can pay 60 baht at one end for Tiger, and 80 at the other end. That is a 30% difference in 100 yards!
Most rooms I have heard about or seen are pretty much the same rate as last year (ie no drop), but availability of better standard accom, at zero or minimal premium is definitely on the increase.

Had enough of the trolls. Going to sleep. I may be some time....
I stayed at the Sukwilai Hotel in february, 600 baht for a room with A/C. Nice and clean and in the middle of everything (Soi Bintabaht)

You make a good point, this is known worldwide in economic circles as the 36.5 pence phenomena. I was told that the Thai tourist police are opening a new sub-division aptly name the '36.5p busters'.Korkenzieher wrote:Why Hua Hin seems to feel it can buck the trend I don't know. Their task is not made easy though by the fact that some locals and tourists alike pay these prices, without undue drama, thus enabling this scandalous trade to flourish.
A recent UN report found that Hua hin was the only place on the planet where over 30p attrocities such as this occur. Despite the fact that I emailed them to advise we paid 95 Baht and 150 Baht respectively in exactly the same standard Walking Street bars last month.
Death to the 36.5pee'rs.

There's two in Soi 94 near me that have decent enough sized pools as shown below. I think generally speaking around that price range those that have pools will be a bit small, I've seen a couple in Khao Takiab with good pools but don't know names, will look next time passing.caller wrote:SJ - do you know any such places as described in your above post with a reasonable sized pool?
