hello everyone. im thinking of visiting Thailand for the first time (im 39) after getting fed up of going to the States, Spain, Greece etc.
I am thinking of going to Hua Hin as it looks very nice in around May time.
could anyone give me an overview of what it is like, i enjoy lazing on beaches, relaxing and partying a bit and doing a bit of sight seeing etc.
I know it will be moving into the rainy season at that time but is it particularly bad, or just a few hours a day and what would the temperature be like. Any input and a few suggestions of good places to stay would be most appreciated.

Hello Buck & welcome,
My experience of May is that you will get everything you want with the exception of partying - apart from the occasional expat, you could be quite lonely. Hua Hin seems to clear out of visitors a couple of days after Sonkran.
Don't worry too much, there will always be plenty of BGs who will more than happy keep you occupied though.

I was there in May last year and will be again this year - and for the end of April. I've never not had a great time whenever I've visited. Its quieter than the main season obviously, but you'll find thats a bonus. It'll be hot - but when isn't it? Apart to those expats who've forgotten what cold is!!!
Talk is cheap
I'm not sure any of us ex-pats ever really get used to the heat and humidity from May-Aug time.caller wrote:I was there in May last year and will be again this year - and for the end of April. Certainly, I never seem to but it's a good excuse for lounging around at home with the "occasional" bottle of Chang or three

To the OP, a lot of your questions have already been covered. There's still partying happening - this is The Land of Smiles - although our esteemed leader and his cronies seem hell bent on restricting the times during which we can enjoy ourselves. Ie closing times etc.
As far as accommodation is concerned, take a look at out sponsors in that section. They're all reputable places and good value.
