Hope someone can answer this question for me. I have read conflicting information about the Pala-U falls at Kaeng Krachan.
My question is can you visit the falls as a day trip from HH? One guide book I read said it was a 3-day hike to the falls? Others seemed to imply you can drive there. I know it is multi-level (11 levels?). Maybe you can just see the lower levels as a day trip and you need the 3 days to see the upper levels?
Would like to see the falls with my TG but definitely don't have 3 days to spend.
Also advice about getting there? Can you just take a taxi from HH or is it recommended to go with a tour operator?
Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

I went with thai g'f on two motor scooters. It took about an hour and a half each way and there are stalls at the falls carpark for an inexpensive lunch or soft drink. It was good to go this way as you see the countryside, but the derriere was a bit numb by the time we got back - in need of a thorough massage !
The falls are worth seeing, depending on the amount of water in them of course, but there are fish to feed and you could swim but the water is pretty cold. The butterflies were amazing - some about 10 cm across the wingspan. There's an entry-fee into the park but not severe.
Enjoy !

Went once on motorbikes, fun day but anyone who makes it up the 12 falls (i think thats about the total) is a proper nutter, or legend however you choose to look at it! We did 4 falls and had a great laugh. All the better for not going to far! It is really beautiful and well worth a trip, take the girlfriend it can be quiet up there.

I realize that this is an old thread, so I'm hoping to get some up-to-date news. Yes, I've searched the forum, but haven't found any more recent information.
I've been to Thailand many times, but I've never been to Hua Hin. I'm probably going to be in Hua Hin in early July, and I would really like to take a day trip into Kaeng Krachan, primarily but not necessarily exclusively, to Pala-U.
There will be two of us, both farangs, and I've been comparing tour prices online which seem to be anywhere in the range of 2,000 to 3,500 baht per person for a day trip with lunch, a guide, et al.
How would this price reasonably compare to hiring a taxi for the trip? As I understand it, there are food stalls near a car park for the waterfalls. Is that correct? Is this a good time of year to visit the park?
Are there reputable travel agents in Hua Hin who can arrange a guided tour with an English speaking guide, and how much would I expect to pay for one of those?
I would be most grateful for your advice. Please respond either here or by pm if you have anything to share.
