Frog problem

Post by Gunnar »

HELP.............

My garden has been invaded with frogs............
Lots of them.......

I know that they are nice, and they take care of a lot of the bugs etc BUT...........

How can I remove them?
Are there traps that can be used?

Thanks

I think you mean 'invaded' :D

Most Thais love to eat frogs - can't you get a local 'frog-catcher' in? I'm sure they'd be very greatful.

Ah, don't worry. Snakes love frogs and will take care of the problem. :shock:

Some Thais like to eat them. Maybe you could find someone to come and bag them and take them away for dinner. I don't know any other way to get rid of them.

We have hundreds if not thousands in our garden. There are at least four different types (three types of toad, plus bullfrogs) that I've seen. One of my dogs is hooked on the drug that one type secretes. He grabs them in his mouth, and carries them around for a few minutes; then he acts drunk for a while, shakes his head back and fourth and saliva drips out of his mouth rapidly.

At first I thought he was being poisoned but it hasn't killed him (yet!) and he keeps doing it like he likes it. I think the frog has some kind of poison or drug on his skin that makes the dog high or causes him to hallucinate.

I was tempted to try it myself but I'm afraid I'll pick the wrong kind of frog. :shock: :shock: :shock: :shock: :shock: :shock:
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

Here is my Solution:

Sauteed Frog Legs with Tomato Garlic Butter

Ingredients

* 1 pound large frog legs
* 1 cup all-purpose flour
* 1 tablespoon Essence, recipe follows
* 1/4 cup unsalted butter
* 1/4 cup minced shallots
* 1 tablespoon minced garlic
* 1/2 cup chopped fresh tomatoes, peeled and seeded
* Salt, to taste
* Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
* 1/2 cup dry white wine
* 1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh parsley leaves

Directions

Cut the frog legs in half. Season both the legs and flour with Essence. In a large saute pan, over medium heat, melt the butter. Dredge the frog legs in the seasoned flour and shake to remove any excess flour. Add the frog legs to the hot pan and saute until golden, turning as needed, about 2 to 3 minutes each side. Add the shallots and garlic and saute for 1 minute. Add the tomatoes, season with salt and pepper, and cook for 1 minute. Add the wine, simmer for 2 minutes, then stir in the parsley. Remove from the heat and serve.

Enjoy your meal.

Get rid of the frogs before you have to get rid of the snakes

Second that. I had a frog plague in my first place in Hua Hin many years ago. Soon after that we had a snake plague. The frogs came suddenly out of nowhere but luckily disappeared overnight after a few days. Soon after that the snake sightings automatically became less and less.

So no solution there but if you google "get rid of frogs" there is loads of information on the subject.
We are all living in 'the good old days' of the future.

Isn't that tell you your garden has no pesticides. That is a good enviroment, you can let you kids play in the ground without worry about any chemical to harming them. :P

I remember seeing/reading that there is/was some kind of teenage ritual to 'lick the toad' to get high, and this is a real toad, not a double meaning girl's fantasy. :shock: :twisted: Pete :cheers:
