I have friends coming to stay here next month some time.
The've narrowed their choice of hotels down to the 3 mentioned (Anantara, Hyatt, Intercontinental).
They're asking me which is best and I've not seen any of them from the inside.
They seem to think the Anantara has hardly any beach - is that true?
The Intercontinental has apparently only just opened - does anyone know what it's like? Has it been completed properly, or is there still building work going on?
What's the beach like at the Hyatt and how are the facilities?
I'd be really grateful for any insight into these places.
Anantara, Hyatt or Intercontinental
Barry, the Anantara has beach stretching from Cha-am (and beyond) to Takiap!!!! What it doesnt have is much in the way of beach life; so it's great if you like your beach quiet...
We like it there - it's our local bit of beach from Bo Fai. You can walk for hours without being disturbed; and its my favourite beach massage
Happy Christmas

anantara is pretty much far away from town, but close to the activity park and the go kart. if you friend has kids, u should check out marriot courtyard. the rates are very reasonable, and it has a very nice kids area.
last i heard about intercon was they were still doing some touch-ups in the hotel, a friend heard some drilling when they were there for dinner. they are the closest to town compared to anantara and hyatt though. and most expensive among them.
hyatt has a nice quiet stretch of beach, abt 5 min from town. not quite sure of the rooms, but the italian restaurant has great pizzas!

I get to stay in quite a few hotels because of my job, holidays etc and generally have been exposed to ones ranging from 3 star upwards.............
I stayed at the Hyatt for 4 nights in September and had a very pleasant experience there........while the room was average in size the room facilities were very good and the shower was excellent..........LCD TV etc..
The staff were superb and very helpful and we ate in the Thai restuarant there which served some of the best seafood I've ever had in Thailand....we also ate in the poolside cafe which had a good range and reasonably priced too..
The grounds were superbly laid out and the whole experience was excellent...........step onto the beach and turn right and within 10 mins you're at the foot of the Golden Buddha and Supattra by the Sea..........yet another great eatery........a trip to town is a few baht in a taxi..................
I'd stay there again...........
